Absolute Insurance Backs Swim League!
Absolute Insurance has stepped up to the blocks to provide the $20,000 Prize Money up for grabs at the Auckland Swimming League's Grand Final on Friday, November 26th. They have also committed to provide prize money for the next two years as well.
The Prize Money will be split amongst the three top Teams, with $12,000 going to the winning Team, $6,000 to second and $2,000 to the third place winners.
Absolute Insurance Directors, Jaynie Hudgell (formerly Jaynie Parkhouse, 1974 Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist), and her husband Craig (a former NZ Backstroke champion) have been so impressed with the Swimming League concept, which is open to both SNZ registered and non-registered swimmers, that they have even sponsored their own Team – the Absolute All-Stars - in the League. Extending their sponsorship arrangement now to the League itself by way of covering the prize money through until 2012 is an exciting long term commitment to the ASL's long term viability.

“We believe this is a fantastic way for young kids, just out of swimming lessons, to get a taste of racing in a fun, team environment, and rub shoulders with our current and former elite swimmers” says Jaynie. “Teams are made up of anyone that wants to “have a go” and has attracted 3 or 4 generations of families to take part, alongside Masters swimmers, Surf swimmers, Triathletes, and NZ sporting legends like Danyon Loader and Hamish Carter, who swims in a team with his wife and two children. We believe the League will attract more youngsters into the sport, some of whom will go on to become champions.”
Executive Officer of Auckland Swimming, Brian Palmer says:
“The commitment of Absolute Insurance to the ASL is an exciting extension of Absolute Insurances previous and extensive support of the sport of swimming in New Zealand. We are extremely excited to have commercial partners such as Absolute Insurance who have such a strong empathy for the sport of swimming and its long term well being involved with the ASL. Already the ASL has made a big impact with older swimmers returning to the sport and new swimmers joining for the first time - to be able to know that this key element of financial support is now secure through into 2012 is extremely satisfying. We are very grateful to Absolute Insurance for their generous support.”
